Michael S. Kimmel, a shareholder, focuses on construction law and litigation, business litigation, and general litigation. Licensed in Nevada and California, he represents clients in state and federal courts in both jurisdictions.

Michael represents a variety of local, regional, national and international developers, general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals. He has litigated numerous mechanics’ lien cases, commercial construction disputes, and residential cases in both Nevada and California state courts. He represents clients before municipal governments and state regulatory agencies including city councils and the Nevada State Contractors Board, and he has assisted aggrieved owners in claims against the Residential Recovery Fund. Michael frequently lectures on construction law matters, and is the recipient of both a Martindale AV rating and the Lorman Distinguished Faculty Award related to his work in construction law and litigation. In 2015, he was named one of Nevada’s “Legal Elite” by Nevada Business magazine. He has served on the Board of the Nevada State Bar’s Construction Law Section since 2011, acting as its President in both 2014 and 2015. Additionally, as an active member of the Builders Association of Northern Nevada’s Legislative Committee, Michael has assisted in the drafting and review of state statutes and city ordinances impacting the construction industry.

 

Business and General Litigation

Michael’s business and general litigation clients are diverse. He has litigated a variety of cases including real estate boundary disputes, delivery of water rights, sufficiency of real estate disclosures, commercial and residential evictions, premises liability, workers compensation, employee termination, improper application and enforcement of CC&R’s, debt collection, and breach of commercial contracts.
